Smart Move Community is a registered Community Based Organization (CBO), a non-profit organization in Kenya, under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection State Department for Social Protection, with physical address in Msambweni Sub-county, with programs in Kwale and Mombasa Counties.
Smart Move Community began working in Kwale in 2010 as a youth group; after the post-election violence, in educating the public on the new constitution, engaging with the public on the importance of youth inclusion, public participation, building a robust and diverse portfolio of working to address structural causes of poverty and injustice.
We implemented a number of integrated programs that address GBV drivers, school mentorship and child protection programs, electoral violence, natural resources conflict, financial literacy, and the recently completed blue economy program; which seeks to nurture young people aged 16-35 years and strengthen their communities by unlocking potential, promoting self-discovery, and championing financial freedom to inspire growth in at-risk communities, faced with unemployment, poverty, and violent extremism in Kwale.
We work with networks of influencers who bring unique expertise, to transform communities into vital partners. We believe that helping people aspire to dream, will not only make a major impact on their lives, but also on society as a whole. Lack of aspiration can lead to unemployment, joining violent extremists groups, teenage pregnancy, poor health, criminal behavior, mental health issues and substance abuse.
We offer new opportunities to gain life-long skills by establishing intentional and ambitious commitments to drive progress by working with our clients as trusted and independent community partners by applying empathy and understanding; to contributing to new approaches in conflict, agriculture, climate change, and social protection.
Our expertise is in research, strategic advisory, mentorship, partnership development, policy, and project design.
